During Charles Munch’s years as music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra (1949-62), he explored repertoire from the Baroque to the contemporary – including some sixty-eight world premieres. In 1955 he launched the orchestra into television. Detailing works from the Austro-German repertoire, many of which he never recorded commercially, these DVDs feature footage of exceptional musical interest and historical value, and have been restored using great care and state-of-the-art techniques.
