The Kreutzer Quartet has forged an enviable reputation as one of Europe’s most dynamic and innovative string quartets. They appear regularly at the major London venues and have made many live and studio recordings for the BBC, and major networks all over Europe. They have taken their extremely eclectic concert programs to countries throughout Europe. Their commitment to musical exploration is reflected in the Quartet’s busy recording schedule. They are the dedicatees of numerous works, and over many years have forged creative partnerships with composers including Sir Michael Tippett, David Matthews, Michael Finnissy, Judith Weir and Hafliði Hallgri´msson. In this recording, they present works by eminent 20th c. Australian Composers, Don Banks (1923-80), Nigel Butterley (b. 1935), Richard Meale (1932-2009) and Felix Werder (1922-2012).
